James, Pete and I made the trip up to Ilton today to race in the 1st Chard Wheelers crit was a beautiful day and we were all in good spirits.

Off we go at a social pace then a few attacks that were reeled in quickly then off James went and was forging a gap another escapee went with him and the bunch seemed resigned to let them go - awesome stuff mate! We then started picking it up and after pretty much a lap on his own they were caught I offered James a gel and he muttered something as he got back in.

Pete was hovering around the front and as we went through the finish on one of the laps I thought I would test the sprint legs. First time across they felt ok.

We then got the bell and it started to go a bit I tagged onto the front two riders expecting to get enveloped by the bunch but they didn't come so we got across the line and I got third, James and Pete rolled across with the bunch and to quote James he felt "Numb."

£20 prize money and looking forward to thruxton tomorrow hope to see you there!

Back to what we do best

After the shocking loss of team rider Derek Witt and severe injury of Pete Sneddon on the Itchen Bridge last month racing and website activity has been somewhat (understandably) interrupted here at DHC.

After some weeks away from the races, our riders are now putting an end to a very successful season - one which has seen multiple race wins, leading to the team retaining the coveted number one spot in the British Cycling Southern Area Rankings. Lee Tunnicliffe was also 20th place overall when it came to individual point-scoring in the south; a great achievement considering this is his first year of road racing!

In the coming weeks we will hopefully have some exciting news about the 2009 race team, along with all of the usual reports and results. For now, we are all enjoying the Tour of Britain coverage on ITV4!
